One of the most catastrophic eruptions of the volcano, the on which took place on December 1631, produced a publishing phenomenon of considerable importance, in which the Spanish language acquired a valuable role. Through the analysis of the instant books devoted to the eruption and published in Naples in Castilian, the article contributes to examine the deep traces that political and cultural relations between Naples and Spain left in the editorial context of Naples XVIIth century.
La storia editoriale delle opere incentrate sul Vesuvio nasce negli anni in cui il Regno di Napoli appartenne alla Corona di Spagna. Successivamente ad una delle più catastrofiche eruzioni del vulcano, quella del dicembre del 1631, si sviluppa infatti un fenomeno editoriale di notevole rilevanza, nel cui ambito la lingua spagnola acquista un ruolo di valore. Attraverso l'analisi delle opere dedicate all'eruzione e pubblicate a Napoli in castigliano, l'articolo contribuisce ad esaminare le tracce profonde che le relazioni politiche e culturali tra Napoli e la Spagna lasciarono nel contesto editoriale napoletano del secolo XVII.
