This article aims to give an explanation of the main topic and reflective consideration that are emerging from the essays gathered in the two volumes The future Ark. Digital media archives, audiovisual, web, edited by Gino Frezza (2008) and The sound and picture. Protection, enhancement and audiovisual heritage promotion, edited by Massimo Pistacchi (2008). Two precious volumes that are analyzing significantly, both in theoretical and technical terms, about the procedure through which digital media archives tend to organize, with original features, the «strategies of cultural heritage preservation and memory».
