The overall aim of this article is to provide knowledge on the importance of organisation as a strategic factor in creating innovative models of governing territories following disasters. More specifically, the effort is to understand if local communities, damaged by disasters, could still benefit from places and spaces for action and, at the same time, are able to take contingent measures to build resilience (Mitchell et al., 2013). Bearing in mind the critical conditions at the aftermath of 2016 and 2017 earthquakes that hit the city of Macerata, this case-study will also demonstrate that development of intra and inter-organizational partnerships amongst all community‘s sectors, under emergency circumstances, is the main priority for building resiliently viable and sustainable communities.
