In recent years, organizations are facing countless transformations. The advent of the Covid-19 pandemic has speeded up the transformation process that is leading to hybrid or digital workplaces. In particular, this transformation has brought about significant changes in workplace cultures, emphasizing a focus on building and maintaining a positive organizational culture. This work-in-progress study focuses on organizations distinguished with the 2023 "Great Place to Work" award, aiming to uncover effective practices and strategies for cultivating a positive organizational culture within the contemporary framework of digital workplaces, encompassing both virtual and hybrid work arrangements. Based on interviews conducted with Human Resources (HR) managers from six Italian companies, the research addresses three key research questions (RQ): RQ1 examines the specific challenges HR managers face in fostering a positive organizational culture in remote or hybrid settings compared to traditional in-person work environments; RQ2 explores facilitators, including communication methods and shared elements like espoused values, that HR managers can employ; and RQ3 investigates the organizational and individual skills required to nurture a positive organizational culture. By delving into these questions, the study contributes valuable insights for HR practitioners navigating the evolving landscape of digital workplaces. Additionally, it enhances the theoretical framework for organizational culture transformation, contributing to a deeper understanding of fostering a positive organizational culture.
